Into Music

A young entrepreneur with a growing business, recognised by The Prince’s Trust for their determination, creativity and positive vision for the future.

Jake Harris was just 18 years old studying at music college when he first had his business idea. As a student on a low income, he couldn’t afford to buy brand new music equipment so shopped on eBay to purchase affordable, used items.

This gave Jake the brainwave to create a business to source quality equipment from the marketplace and repair it before putting the items back up for sale at a profit.

He spent his weekends during college trawling through car boot sales with his Grandad to find bargains to take home, repair and resell – bringing in profit while learning more about business and the reseller community.

What started as a hobby during his studies is now a truly successful family business, employing two additional members of staff, including his Uncle.

Operating from his Grandparents’ extension, the business has one of the largest online inventory of pre-loved drum equipment on eBay and has huge plans for growth.

The Into Music team source and collect stock from all over the UK, selling some of the highest quality drum kits, cymbals and accessories while still providing the affordable equipment that the business was founded on.

eBay has exposed the business to a global marketplace and now Jake and his team fulfil hundreds of orders a week around the world. By the age of 20, Jake has been able to create a business that is predicted to turn over more than £250,000 in its second year on eBay.
