The Wright Buy

A thriving business with revenues of over £1m on eBay last year.

After successfully helping a friend to sell some refurbished kitchen items on eBay, Andrew decided to turn it into a business. He created The Wright Buy ten years ago at the age of 21, while living in his parent’s house, taking zero profit for the first year.

In the early days, as the company grew, eBay remained its main sales channel and the only place the business sold graded and refurbished products and brand new items. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Andrew.

When a household brand on which he had heavily relied went into liquidation, he struggled to shift the remaining stock and replace the brand.

Frustrated with being at the mercy of large international brands, Andrew had an idea to launch his own, Cookology.

Over time, the brand’s popularity soared, and it is now one of the UK’s most popular online appliance businesses.

He started importing appliances directly from factories abroad and what began as a small range of cooker hoods in various shapes and sizes, expanded to hobs, built- in microwaves, mini fridges, ovens, dishwashers and wine coolers.

The company is expected to turnover a staggering £14 million this year
